AUGUSTA, Ga. - Gerard J. Sanford, Jr. entered into rest Saturday, August 9, 2008, at University Hospital. He was a native of Flushing, NY, but a resident of Augusta for many decades. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia. He was a long time member of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired from civil service at Fort Gordon as an instructor, and was a member of NARFE. Family members in addition to his wife, Ann, are children: Ann Marie Marshall, Gerard Sanford III, and Patricia Sanford; granddaughter: Jamie Marshall, all of Augusta; sister and brother-in-law: Catherine and Don Amberger of NY, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 12:15 p.m. at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity with Father Tim Donahue celebrant. Internment to follow at Westview Cemetery. There will be a vigil service and rosary Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 6:00pm, at Thomas Poteet and Son and the family will receive friends following the service.
