4 carjacking suspects toss man out downtown
A 31-year-old Edgefield, S.C., man told police he was held at gunpoint and forced to drive to downtown Augusta on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim said four men approached him at Washington Road near Woodbine Road, not far from Lake Olmstead, put a gun to his head and drove his car to the Mom and Pops Corner Store at 2025 Broad St., according to a Richmond County Sheriff's Office incident report. The suspects then reportedly stole an undetermined amount of cash and threw him out of the vehicle. A short time later, deputies received an anonymous tip and arrested Antonio Reid and Roosevelt Reid Jr., both of the 2000 block of Clark Street. Antonio Reid faces charges of armed robbery, carjacking, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and kidnapping, police said. Roosevelt Reid has been charged with carjacking and armed robbery.
Identity theft gets man five years behind bars
A federal judge in Columbia sentenced a 39-year-old Aiken man Tuesday on charges of conspiracy to commit identity theft.
Larry V. Bates Jr. was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Margaret Seymour to five years in prison and ordered to pay more than $145,000 in restitution.
An investigation conducted by the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Postal Inspector revealed the defendant used stolen information from 44 members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union to obtain driver's licenses, car loans, birth certificates, post office boxes and credit cards, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's office in Columbia.
Felon gets 15 years for having weapon
A convicted felon caught with a handgun and ammunition was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday.
U.S. Attorney Edmund Booth Jr. issued a news release about Shawntrail J. Lee, who was convicted of federal weapon crimes in January.
Rashon Jackson, a co-defendant who had one prior felony conviction, pleaded guilty earlier this year and received an 18-month prison sentence.
Mr. Lee and Mr. Jackson were visiting from New Jersey in June 2007 when a Columbia County officer stopped their vehicle on suspicion that someone in the car had fired gunshots at another motorist.
Mr. Lee had three prior violent felony convictions, according to the news release.

I like when it was once reported that Jessie Jackson went into Sears and as normal complained about all the washing machines being white. My comments had to do with urban hunters (drive by shooting) and urban shopping while using a strangers car ( car theft and robbery). I think if two whinnies complain, it doesn't make any difference if you violate the comments policy or not. Since two people referred to me as a deeply instilled racist, I guess that was enough.
