Runoff time in Georgia

THE RACES

STATEWIDE: Vernon Jones and Jim Martin vie to be the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate. The winner will face Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss in the November general election,

IN RICHMOND COUNTY: A runoff between Tommy Boyles and Steven Kendrick will determine who will be the county's tax commissioner for the next four years. There was no Republican candidate.

WHO CAN VOTE

GOING TO THE POLLS: People who voted in the July 15 Democratic primary and eligible voters who did not vote at all may participate.

All precincts in Richmond and Columbia counties will be open for voting from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

STAYING HOME: Anyone who voted in the Republican primary in July is not eligible to vote in today's Democratic runoffs.

DON'T FORGET!

ID REQUIRED: Photo identification is required. Eligible voters who do not have a valid driver's license or a state-issued ID from the Department of Drivers Services can obtain a photo ID from the board of elections offices in their county.
