Just a few thoughts on current events

A little of this and that:

- Concerning the letter "Deception lies with pro-lifers" (July 21): If my daughter, wife, etc. were raped, I would take them to the emergency room to have a dilation and curettage. This is not abortion. However, if she waited until the fetus begins to take the shape of a baby, I feel that this is a sinful act. But here again, there are exceptions.

I believe that if a sonogram reveals the fetus to be severely distorted, it should be aborted for its own good as well as the mother's. I think the wrong comes in when a pregnancy is terminated simply because a female conceives without force, then decides that she doesn't want this kid because it will cramp her lifestyle.

- We may be seeing gas prices drop a few cents because word is getting around that many Americans want more drilling off our coasts and in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Let's not give up on these demands for a sneaky penny or two. We need to become energy-independent again. Too many dollars have already gone to Saudi Arabia. The Al-Gore-promoted, man-made global warming scare is nothing more than a socialistic deception.

l Is the government going to supply millions of dollars to assist the flood-ravaged people, homes and businesses of Utah, Texas, etc., like they did in Louisiana? How about those who lost homes to fires in California? Just wondering.

"I believe that if a sonogram reveals the fetus to be severely distorted, it should be aborted for its own good as well as the mother's." That is sick. So is this argument that handicapped children should never be born. Some children appear normal and can be severly handicapped, and some children can be hideously disfigured and have normal or above normal intelligence. Global warming is a fact and the impact is being measured all over the planet. The debate has not been "is global warming real", but is it manmade-you dufus.

disssman

Say Bizarro you seem to know, who was taking temperatures on the North Pole and in Antartica since lets say the year 1600. By golly that will prove that global warming and no more questions. Afterall you have "FACTS" to prove it. And by the way FACTS are not hypothesis, they are "MEASURABLE" and stand on their own. So given this just tell me who the temperature takers were.

Bizarro

Well disssman you appear to be ignorant of what is global warming. Global warming is the change since the mid-20th century of the earth's air and oceans, and the projections it will continue. But you can estimate what temperatures were in the past using other information which infers temperatures of say 100,000 years ago. Your sarcasm just demonstrates your naivity. During the 1600 they used thermoscopes as the thermometer hadn't been invented, although the same prinicpal. Likely if I gave you the references and data which support global warming you wouldn't have the intellect to understand it given your level of discourse. Actually according to historical record we should be entering another mini-ice age like the one that extended the Irish potato famine.

I know that doctors told me that my kid would be born with a disease and wanted me to abort the baby. I told them that if my baby dies by their hand, they will answer to me! I wanted my baby, deformities and all! This child not only has NO deformities, this kid has NO diseases or any mental handicaps that these doctors stated she would have! As for the "Global Warming" issue, I know that methanol carbon buildup over this whole planet is the same as when you place veggies in your frig and they rot fast, only because that gas buildup in your frig cannot escape. Any idiot can see, our polar caps are starting to melt and this kills a lot of animals in the area cause they need ice to help them breathe under water for periods of time. Why that is happening, there are differences of opinion, but it still remains a fact that the results are what they are. If we continue to ignore this, our temperatures will only grow worse, not better. This planet cannot correct itself without our help. That is a known FACT!

Deb, I disagree. You are misinformed and must not accept the propaganda of agenda based organizations. However, I am glad you kept your baby. The law should not enable anybody to have life and death priviledges over a silent, unseen ,helpless, but healthy little baby. And a mother should appreciate the miracle inside of her and love it long enough to offer it up for adoption. Let that be her choice.

"It is critical our community be an integral and active part of the debate because African-Americans are disproportionately impacted by the effects of climate change economically, socially and through our health and well-being." House Majority Whip James Clyburn.

We all knew climate change was racially motivated

Bizarro

What agenda? Oh you mean the one to save the world from self destruction. Actually most scientist think that point is gone. Life can't evolve fast enough to compensate hence the global loss of insects such as butterflies and bees, frogs, lizards, etc. Life is a delicate balance and web and we seem to think things will compensate. To a degree that is true, but I think the worst is yet to come with famine and a lack of potable water. I won't enjoy telling you I told you so and I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Hey, Bizarro (good choice, appropriate name) have you ever been to New Mexico? If you drive from El Paso, TX east to Carlsbad, NM (I'll wait while you look that up), you'll see a starnge desert landscape. Check it out, you're driving along the bottom of the ancient Permian Sea. It disappeared 248 million years ago. The trilobites of that time may have caused the sea to dry up, but they certainly were powerless to stop it. Do you honestly believe that any of us, even all of us can stop nature from doing what she has always done? What chutzpah!

By the way, the word is naivete, not naivity. And be patient, if you are old enough to remember, many "experts" were predicting the end of the world due to the coming ice age back in the 1970s. Look it up.

Bizarro

Oops naivety. I often have spelling errors. Until recently all the evolutionary biological models predicted that life would not withstand a major onslaught (look it up) so there is hope, but like I say I doubt it. You are correct nature will do what nature always does. Greater than 99.9% of species that have inhabited the planet are now extinct (look it up!), so it is a really good bet that we humans won't last nor the majority of other species. I'm not predicting the end of the world just the end of the major species that dominate the planet now. Ah let's have a jeopardy challenge let's see if you are old enough to play brisco39. But your example does make my point and brings to mind Hox genes in segmentation and just how ancient the homeotic gene are in evolutionary history. Brisco you must be from Indiana. Are all people from Indiana so smug. What chutzpah! hee, hee, hee.
