Let us go at our own chosen speed

Regarding "Save gas by making slower autos" (July 24): I agree with letter writer Cyndy Myers -- the government should mandate that cars can go no faster than 55 mph.

They should also come into our homes and regulate our thermostats to 84 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and 64 in the winter. An 8 p.m. curfew also would save gas.

If Ms. Myers wants to drive a boring, ugly Prius, go for it. But she should please keep her foot off my gas pedal, and stay out of my life.

If people keep going at their own chosen speed, NOBODY would be safe on the roads! Our streets are posted at 25 mph and people still go over that by quite a few mph to get to the new school here. My kids can't walk to school safely with everyone speeding like they do.

Want to see the auto industry really in the tank, try to sell a automible that is limited to 55mph. It would not sell even if it got 55mpg
