The Pentagon would not let him go with one of his senior military advisors to Landstuhl because it was seen as a political campaign instead of a Congressional delegation. If Obama had gone idiots like you would have been screaming that he was politicizing the wounded. Obama has visited with wounded at Walter Reed, Baghdad, and Bahgram. On the very same trip he met thousands of enthusiastic military personell. The very ad you got your bogus information from even showed him in front of hundreds of cheering soldiers. They love him. The troops know full well that it is McSame that is politicizing them. Veterans for Obama '08!

Sjgraci, though the vein in my forehead probably isn't popping out as much as yours, I do agree. Obama was going to get hassled for his decision in this situation no matter what he did. Personally, I could see his reasoning in both outcomes, but I respect him for his decision, as well as his candor in expressing it.

While the letter writer is wrong.....to call someone dishonest and dishonorable, in the same sentence where you refer to the Senator as "McSame" is hypocritical and laughable.

Actually, the letter is factual except for the "Obama does not care for the American service men and women who gave much for their country" part. No one knows whether he cares or not. The problem was not that Obama did not go to Landstuhl - he had many excuses for that - it was his persistent habit of carefully weighing each of his acts based on what others think of him. McCain certainly does not have that flaw. It's a judgment issue.

Okay, so Obama cares about political sound bites and McCain doesn't. For the majority of voters who does this help win the election?

The inaction on the part of B. Husssein Obama goes to the core of this muslim father/hippie flower child mother Mullato. If the photo-op/sound bite situation does not play well for B. sjgraci is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! Read the front-page article in today's Washington Post titled "McCain Charge Against Obama Lacks Evidence". The McCain campaign has made false charges for 4 days now and has failed to produce any evidence of its claims that Obama canceled a trip to visit wounded soldiers because the U.S. military forbid the presence of media and/or cameras. Here is one sentence from the piece: "A reconstruction of the circumstances surrounding Obama's decision not to visit Landstuhl, based on firsthand reporting from the trip, shows that his campaign never contemplated taking the media with him." McCain has to get off his tangent against Obama. I know what Obama is and I don't want to keep hearing his name. If McCain continues in this vein, I will stay home in November.

Obama didn't want to take the chance that if he went to see the wounded soldiers it would be construed as political, so he did what he considered to be the more expedient thing and went to shoot basket balls. I wonder if anyone actually agrees with his decision making. It would appear to me that one would make the effort to see the tropps and to heck with what the voters think.

Do read the article mentioned above in today's Washington Post. It's pretty enlightening. As a veteran, I am appalled at how willingly the McCain campaign embraces smear and fear as a tactic, and I am disappointed at how easily some of my fellow citizens fall for it.

Obama is a classic politician. Full of great speeches, seeking photo ops whenever possible, charismatic, and not a single significant achievement to his credit or a single solid idea described during the campaign. He's smoke and mirrors and he's hoping to keep it going until November. People like him because he's full of blather about hope, change, etc., and because he speaks like he knows the English language, unlike the dimwit in the White House now. I firmly believe the people most qualified to run the country want nothing to do with politics, so we're left with the leftovers, like Bush and Obama.

Smear and fear is not a tactic exclusive to any party or candidate. This presidential election is no different. No change. The electorate falls for it because they are too damn lazy to research, learn, and think for themselves. NOTA in '08
