Dr. Sunita Dodani , the assistant dean for research at the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing, has received the 2008 Community Service Award from the International Society on Hypertension in Blacks for her Fit Body & Soul study, which promotes behavioral lifestyle change through weight loss, exercise and nutrition through 12 weeks of sessions in black churches.

Dr. Gaston K. Kapuku , a cardiovascular researcher at the Medical College of Georgia's Georgia Prevention Institute, has received a Medical Fellowship Award from the International Society on Hypertension in Blacks for his research into hypertension in blacks. He has also received Blue Ribbon Presentation Awards in 2006 and 2008 from the society.

Tim Johnson , videographer for Medical College of Georgia, has received a Bronze Telly Award for his work on Remembering 40 Years of Excellence , a video celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Medical College of Georgia School of Allied Health Sciences.

Maria Vaill , a Realtor, has received the Agent of the Month award from the Executive Review Committee of the CSRA Home Connections Local Alliance Co-op Marketing program for achievements in being the top referral source for her clients.

The Carpet Shop has received a 2008 Rug Retailer of the Year Award from AmericasMart and the Oriental Rug Retailers of America. The award recognizes leaders making a significant impact on the entire industry.

Peggy Jarrett , a professional realtor, has received the Agent of the Month award from Century 21 Larry Miller Realty for achievements in outstanding performance in real estate listing, sales and customer satisfaction in June 2008.

The CSRA Medical Managers Association has announced the new board for 2008-09:

Angela Herman , president; Tracie Duffie , past-president; Karen Taylor , president-elect; Beverly Bella , secretary; Cindy Folger , treasurer; Billie English and Claire Shivers , program co-chairwomen; Bryan Jones , membership chairman; Mindy Pritchard , communications chairwoman; and Jim Larson, Gwen Williamson and Pat Harrell , members at large.

Aidmore Animal Clinic, of Augusta, has again received accreditation after an evaluation by the American Animal Hospital Association. The evaluation includes a quality assessment review of the hospital's facility, medical equipment, practice methods and pet health care management.

Pat Long , the community manager of Wymberly, Martinez, has been awarded a 2008 Pacesetter Award and has been elected to the Georgia Manufactured Housing Association's 2008-09 board of directors.

Also, Wymberly, Martinez has been named the 2008 Manufactured Home Land/Lease Community of the Year as designated by the Georgia Manufactured Housing Association.

The following people have been elected to serve two three-year terms as directors on the Augusta Symphony Inc. board:

Dr. George Bradley, Kelley D. Mobley, Beth Menger Morrison and Jane Schwartz .

Also, the board has unanimously elected the following people to the Executive Committee:

Phil Caldwell , president; Joe Huff , president-elect; Brian Marks , vice president, artistic advisory; Ginger Flanagin , vice president, development; Hugh McCutcheon , treasurer; Bill Barrett , chair-endowment fund; and Peter Klacsmann , secretary.
