AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Lester E. Tubman, Sr., of Rosier Rd., entered into rest on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 2 p.m. at New Destiny Ministries with Rev. Willie Rivers officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Tubman, a native of Augusta, was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a charter member of the AMVETS. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after thirty eight years of service and was a member of the American Postal Workers Union. As Father of the Church and Deacon Emeritus at Life in the River Worship Center, Mr. Tubman was a former choir member and former chairman of the Deacon Board. He leaves to celebrate his life a devoted wife of 68 years, Verneller Tubman; sons, Lester E. (Laura) Tubman, Jr., Augusta, Earl D. (Dorothy) Tubman, Sr., Atlanta; daughters, Linda T. (Henry) Palmer, Prophetess Nancy T. (Bishop Gary T.) Reese, Augusta; grandchildren, Marcus E. (Nancy) Tubman, Sr., Sonya T. (Kier) Jackson, LeKeisha T. (Tracy) Hawes, Katria Trumpler, Earl D. Tubman, Jr., Brandon Kris Tubman, Alicia Tubman, Stephen Tubman, James Harris, Gary T. Reese, Jr.; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; other relatives and friends.
