AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, July 21, 2008, Mr. Johnny Douglas Hunter, Jr. Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from W. H. Mays Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Clarence E. Grier officiating. He was born in Augusta, GA to the late Johnny Douglas Hunter, Sr. and Virginia Winfrey Hunter. Johnny was the 6th child of seven children. He graduated from Norris High School in 1967. After graduating from high school he was drafted into the Army, where he was a member of the 101st Division and the 82nd Division Airborne Unit as a Paratrooper. He also participated in regular field exercises at Fort Bragg, NC. After serving in the Army and returning from Vietnam (Saigon) he attended the Culinary Institute of America where he began as a Master Chief. Johnny returned to Augusta and began working for the Sheridon which operated out of St. Joseph Hospital (Trinity) after 32 years of service. Survivors are three sisters, Phyllis M. Bryant, Sylvia E. Holmes, Mary E. Richardson; and four stepbrothers, Vaar (Vavian) Hunter, Ken Hunter, Kelvin Hunter, Anthony Hunter; one stepsister, Betty Hunter Mims and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. W. H.
