Rants and rants

Comments from our readers:

THE SIGNS ON CITY BUSES should read "people space available" instead of advertising. All I ever see are empty buses with those stupid signs on them. Another brainchild of the thinking-out-of-the box commissioners.

RANT TO THE concrete truck drivers who drive through residential areas blowing your horn. The people you are blowing your horn at aren't home, but I am and it's annoying.

BIG RAVE FOR THE MAN at the Dean's Bridge Wal-Mart who helped a very pregnant lady load her groceries back into her buggy. Thank you so much.

RANT TO THE PEOPLE who do not stay at their posts behind the ticket and check-in counter at the Augusta airport. Beautiful facility, but what poor management that no one was available to give any information on flights. However, a huge rave to the gentleman who was so kind in helping me finally find out the status of my father's canceled incoming flight. That, at least, is one Delta employee who does deserve a rave!

IT IS ABSURD to consider reinstating the school tax for senior citizens. The school board needs to reduce staff and outrageous salaries starting at the very top rather than forcing the seniors to pay for their improper and poor management. Other avenues should be considered including and not limited to consolidation and layoffs before this burden is placed on seniors!

IT WOULD SEEM THAT, yet again, we are being told that we have only two people qualified to be president.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE to get local law enforcement to ensure drivers using Aumond Road as their shortcut to everywhere drive the speed limit? The posted speed limit is 30 mph, not 50 mph.

THERE ARE STILL GOOD people in the CSRA. A big thank-you to Jack and Sam for their assistance in changing the tire on my Expedition in the Best Buy parking lot.

I THINK IT'S RIDICULOUS the way elderly people drive. I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to, just that going under the speed limit while in the left lane -- "Slower traffic stay to the right" -- is so unnerving and causes me along with countless others (I'm sure) to be late.

its nice to know some people can still change a tire. even more remarkable that some people will help someone else with their flat tire.

PTHS2

It might be easier to leave a few minutes earlier to get to work on time. Just a thought.....

That must have been some kinda tire change then.....

Don't drive over the speed limit, leave home early enough to get to work on time, and you won't have to worry about other people driving. Remember, poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency for others.

What is wrong with putting ads on buses? The buses are there and running, so why not try a different way to generate some funds. People will compalin about anything.

I usually drive 3 - 4 mph over the speed limit, & I still get tailgaters on a two lane highway that can't wait to get around. Most of the time when they do pass like rockets, they go a couple miles up the road and then force me to slow down when they turn off on a side road. Some times if I see a place where I can pull over, I pull over and let them by. Some people just can't seem to get themselves in gear to leave early enough to allow time for traffic slowdowns and still get to work on time. I often get asked why I'm at work 15 or 20 minutes early. I also get irritated when slow pokes block the road and have a string of cars behind them that can't get around them. They have a right to drive slower if they so desire, but they could at least pull over every now and then to let others by.

I don't know if the two people running for Pres. are qualified or not, but I don't care much for either one. I will just have to vote for the one I consider the lesser of two evils!

Morning all-----the drivers that speed and tailgate are the ones that think the world belong to them and them only. That is the cause of several accidents. I hope and pray that if they have an accident they wont hurt or kill anyone because of their carelessness. The other thing that irks me is if they are able to pass, they flass thier light for you to get over so they don't have to switch lanes. People the world does not revolve around you!

rbk

firefighter, I frequently don't agree with you on things, but I certainly agree with you about the signs on the buses. We see advertising on lots of other vehicles, why not buses? I keep reading that the buses are losing money, so, why not at least cut the losses with advertising! I'm sure if I no longer could drive and lived where the buses run, I would be very appreciative that they were there for me to ride.

Trouble

the richmond county bus system is almost as good as the columbia county bus system

What's a buggy?

rbk

Other drivers that have no consideration, are the ones that can't wait one minute for me to get by, instead, they pull out in front of me from a side road forcing me to slow down, then a half mile later, they slow me down again so they can turn off to another side road. I guess they are more important than anyone else!

rbk

I think the buggy they are referring to, is probably a shopping cart or one of those carts for the handicapped, but I can't figure out how the groceries got out of the cart to start with.

I enjoy sitting on my back porch drinking coffee and reading my paper that has been delivered. Its one of my relaxing weekend things I like to do. However the last couple of weeks my paper has been showing up later and later. This morning I gave up and read it on line. Guess I'll cancel my subscription.

Interesting perspective lady m. Personally, I think people who impede the flow of traffic because of their attitude of “I pay taxes therefore I can drive in any lane” believe the world revolves around THEM. I am not advocating speeding or reckless driving; however, if people would just use a little common courtesy, things would be so much better. If someone is driving faster than you, please move over to the right lane, or at least do not block both lanes by driving the same speed as the driver in your adjacent lane. It is not your job to self-regulate the speed on the road. Law enforcement authorities have been trained for such. Again, is a little common courtesy to much to ask? I know the possibility of that happening is slim. Nevertheless, if drivers from both sides of the argument could understand the frustration that their actions cause (i.e, the driver who thinks I am driving a speed that is safe and I could care less about the people behind me or the driver who thinks get out of my way and I am going to tailgate until you do) and if they could behave accordingly, there would be much less frustration and many fewer accidents.

ITDoc

I recently radically changed from an agressive driver to a gas saving driver. I ride in the slow lane, never hestitate to pull over to let car pass if I'm impeding them, and if some idiot feels it necessary to pace me to attempt to block traffic, I'll slow even more to allow a gap for passing. I've seen more middle fingers and road rage than I ever did while driving agressively. My gas mileage is up 16%, my stress level is much lower, and my odds of getting a speeding ticket is zero. If you see a truck with "I'm saving gas, get off my a$$" stenciled on the back bumper, then you've seen me.

It dosen't matter what lane you are in the speed limit is the same for all lanes. Last time I checked we don't have any autobahns with no speed limit, get over it or work to get the law changed.

LadyCisback

to the senior citizens.. if you don't like it.. MOVE!!!!.. I am so tired of their whining and complaining about everything.. They always start their sentences with the same sentence.. I am an 80 something year old.. who cares!!!
