Just one small correction. Our government as it operates today is socialistic, but as designed by the founders it was not so.
There's an old proverb that says, "It's better to be thought of as a fool than to open one's month and remove all doubt."
The American people will never knowingly vote for socialism. This is the reason why both major parties have to disguise it by using such terms as "compassionate conservatism" and "universal health care."
Government produces nothing. When the law is used to take from one and give to another, this is called socialism, or the redistribution of wealth. French political philosopher Frederic Bastiat, in his book The Law, said, "When a portion of wealth is transferred from the person who owns it -- without his consent and without compensation, and whether by force or fraud -- to anyone who does not own it, then I say that property is violated; that an act of plunder is committed."
Free people have different talents and abilities and, because of this, human nature rejects socialism. Former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill said, "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessing. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery."
Christ was no socialist. He said, "The poor you will have with you always." In the parable of the rich fool, Christ is asked to speak to the man's brother about dividing his inheritance. Christ replies, "Who made me a divider over you?" It is the responsibility of the church to show compassion and generosity, not the state.
It is a fact that Hitler was elected to office as a socialist. "Nazi" stands for National Socialist German Worker's Party.
Which will the American people choose: Socialist Party A (Democratic) or Socialist Party B (Republican)?
As for me, I'm voting for the Constitution Party candidate for president: Chuck Baldwin.

Well said Glenda. Down with both Dem and Rep and vote for an independent. It is sad most people haven't even heard of the U.S. Taxpayers Party or Constitution party.
Stuck with what we have in politicalparties, I will not waste my vote on anything other than the Republican Party while I hold my nose.
Since Cynthia McKinney has no chance in hell of winning, I'm gonna vote for the Democrats. They are our last chance for a truly small government. Sen. John McCain is a big-government proponent, just like all neocons are.
Obama is a big favorite in Europe. (Reminds me of Bush saying he could see Putin's soul.) With all those votes along with yours, the Democrats shouldn't have a problem.

Neoconservativism basis started after WWII and originated from the left most often associated with liberals and socialist. The actual movement started in the 70's with anti-soviet democrats. It wasn't until Reagan that it became associated with Rep. Williston you shouldn't use words rhetorically when you don't even know what they mean. Johnsons description seems accurate when you state "neocons have destroyed this country for 232 years". That is idiotic!!!!!!!
