AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Edward Floyd Cody, beloved husband of Cora Skinnell Cody, went to heaven on Monday, July 21, 2008 at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Mr. Cody was born in Manistique, MI, August 12, 1917 to Isreal & Alice Rushford Cody. Mr. Cody retired after serving 28 Ú years in the US Army during WWII, Korea and Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Cody, who worked for 20 years for Trust Company Bank, which is now Sun Trust Bank, was an avid golfer and scored his last hole-in-one when he was 87 years old in 2005. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the Bicentennial Chapel at Fort Gordon. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel, with Chaplain Richard Green and Chaplain Steve Munson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Military Detachment at Fort Gordon. Survivors include his wife Cora Cody; daughter & son-in-law Carolyn & Bob McAlister, Columbia , SC; granddaughter Denise (Edward) Blackwell, Columbia, SC; six great grandchildren Matthew Blackwell, Brittany Stevens, Jason Blackwell, Taylor Stevens, Laken Blackwell and Chase Blackwell; sisters; Beverly Klagstad and Barbara Lenzi from Manistique, MI; brother; Bill Cody, Las Vegas, NV. The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to Mr. Cody's care giver LaTonya Nugin and the Eisenhower Medical Staff. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909 The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 24, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel.
