HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, July 14, 2008 at his residence, MSGT. (Ret.) John L. Fowler of Clayborn Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from Barnes Street Friendship Chapel with Chaplain Lyons officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Mr. Fowler was native of Birmingham, Alabama, he was reared in Chicago, Illinois, where he enlisted with the United States Army and served his country with honor, retiring as a Master Sergeant. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Survivors are his mother, Mabel Alexander; son, Darren Fowler; brother, Luther (Mattie) Fowler; three sisters, Ann Baginski, Peggy (Waymon) Crowell and Barbara Holt; grandchildren, Adoria Vinson and Alex Fowler and a host of close friends and relatives.
