HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Walton Hood, 86, loving husband of the late Pauline Chavous Hood, entered into rest on July 20, 2008 at the Veterans Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church, Hwy 88 and US 1, Blythe GA with the Rev. Albert Halford officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hood's body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Walter Cook, Bob Ellis, Joe Flanders, Mac James, Homer Myers and Mikel Skinner; Honorary will be the Men's Sunday school class at Faith Baptist Church. Military honors will be accorded by the ceremonial detachment of Fort Gordon. A loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Mr. Hood retired from Augusta Richmond County as a heavy equipment operator. He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, also serving in the United States Army during WW II. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Bobby and Gladys Hood, Hephzibah and Steve and Michelle Hood, Columbia County; five granddaughters, five grandsons and nine great grandchildren.
