Woman dies after golf cart flips

A Montgomery County, Ga., woman died early Sunday after a golf cart accident in rural Columbia County.

Alicia Renee Driggers, 41, of Tarrytown, Ga., was pronounced dead at Medical College of Georgia Hospital at 2 a.m., Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins said.

The golf cart flipped and threw all four occupants out, including Ms. Driggers and an infant, Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris said.

Officials are awaiting toxicology results, which could take six weeks, Capt. Morris said.

The accident occurred about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 3600 block of Johns Road, off Lakeside Drive in Winfield, according to Capt. Morris. Mr. Collins said officials think the woman was visiting friends.

An autopsy was scheduled for today in Atlanta, but Mr. Collins said preliminary medical results suggest Ms. Driggers died of a head injury.

Castleberry's must pay hefty fine

An Augusta food company that stores more than 10,000 pounds of ammonia will pay fines totaling $5,000 for not filing a required risk management plan, according to Georgia's Environmental Protection Division.

Castleberry's Food Co. and Bumble Bee Foods LLC were supposed to file the plan by September 2006 under federal regulations, according to a consent order posted last week on EPD's web site.

The company has since filed the plan and is now in compliance with the regulations, the order said.

Wow....... Castleberry's may as well hang it up......who ever is running that place is not up to the job.

Reality

They were supposed to file a plan nearly 2 years ago and only got fined $5,000. Why didn't they get a real fine?

5K is um, "hefty?" No, hefty is with a few more zeros following the 5. Management is in the business to manage, but not all managers are qualified unfortunately and, as a result, the comapany and ultimately the employees are left holding the can of tainted chili.

The "infant" was 6 years old and accident was on Lakeside Drive, not Johns Rd. Not always the real facts that we read in paper. Horrible tragedy for a great family.

FallingLeaves

thank you for the clarification smiles68. I learned long ago, not to believe everything I read.
