There is plenty of infanticide in your Bible, usually after the baby has been born.
As a Christian and a believer in the truth of the entire Bible, I must respond to the Rev. Valerie Humphreys' endorsement of Planned Parenthood ("Planned Parenthood is vital to Augusta," July 7).
How can so-called clergy, having vowed before God and man to share the gospel of Christ, so blatantly disregard His word? The Bible clearly states in Exodus 20:13 that we should not commit murder. Planned Parenthood is responsible for aborting babies by the millions! No true "clergy" would support such outright sin.
The Rev. Humphreys needs to spend a little time meditating on God's word and evaluating her clergy credentials. To those in need of the services that the Rev. Humphreys speaks of, there are other agencies and programs available that do not encourage or offer abortion. Let's support them instead of Planned Parenthood.

Amen for a good letter. Abortion is murder plain and simple. Those who defend it might be religious but they won't have a relationship with Jesus Christ or be guided by the Holy Spirit. No way to love Jesus and hate the unborn child.
Thank you for standing up for the truth Tanya Simpson...
sad and hate filled grouse, there is infanticide in the bible, but not supported by the teachings of Christianity. And there is some good in PlannedParenthood, but none of it has to do with abortion.
PT tell me one thing good about Planned Parenthood. You know damn well they specialize in abortions rather than "counseling". Pre-mediated murder is all they perfomr every day. Don't know what church Humphreys belongs to, but not one that teaches what Christ taught us or the 10 commandments of the old testament.
Jack, have you been to planned parenthood because you sound as if you have, if you haven't then you aren't being much of a Christian yourself by judging. Young women can go there for other things besides abortions, yes they do abortions but I would rather see a young girl go somewhere safe to get one rather than back in the old days when they went to butchers and died. Abortion is a touchy subject, you and others think of it as murder but everyone doesn't feel that way and we live in a country where we are all entitled to our own opinons. I get sick of hippocrits who try to push their own personnal Christian views and biblical interpretaions on everyone else. I go to church and I believe in God but I also know that everyone doesn't see things the way I do and I am not going to push it on them, or judge them for their actions, that is not my job......nor anyone elses.

Jesus said if we don't understand sowing and reaping evrything else will be confusing. Killing un-born babies is not the type of sowing anyone should be doing because of the crop they will reap.
It amazes me that one would use profanity to defend christianity. Geeeeeeez...talk about morons
So, 5:00smwhr, If I feel like I want to come to your home or even invite you into my plush office for the purpose of taking your life, you would feel that to be OK. Would that go against your moral judgement? I really don't think it matters one toot what you feel. God's law is not up for your or anyone's interpretation. It is plain and simple. You shall not commit murder. The child in the womb has not done anything that would deserve capitol punishment. However, the one who does the abortion and the one who allows that to happen to their own unborn child should be given the death sentence.
Thank you Tanya for defending your faith. I commend you for doing exactly what God expects those He has called as His children to do.
Rev. Valerie Humphreys. What a brave and courageous thing you did in writing your letter. You spoke your conscience. God bless you. I am a "Recoverying Christian". I have no use of its faith anymore. I have a lifetime of battle scars from its hypocrites. I would be honored to worship at your church next time I return home. May G_d continue to guide you. W. Michael Strickland - Atlanta
Painter, the child as you call it is not really a child yet to some people, we aren't talkng about a fully developed child here. I am not even a supporter of abortion but, my point is that women have a choice and rather than to have to go to a place where the doctor is maybe not really a doctor that they have the right to a safe place. And I do have a problem with people always using religion to prove their point. "Let ye who is without sin cast the first stone" if people lived by that then there would be alot less people posting as if they are all saintly and have never done anything wrong in their lives.......
5:00smwhr, I haven't been o PP nor have I attended an execution, but we ALL know the primary method used at PP is abortion. Sounds as if you have been there as one of those needing it and you call yourself a Christian. Women have choices as they always have-to say no and keep their legs closed when not married or don't want a child. We used to teach young firls to say NO and what the consequences were should they say yes ad get knocked up. Adoption is a much better way than abortion for those innocents who can not speak or act for themselves. Tell us just what else women get at PP, as we who haven't been there would like to know. I am not judging anyone-God has already done that by condemning murder . I am not trying to foist my religious beliefs on anyone-just expressing my opinion as you say, all American have a right to do. God will be the final judge and those women who not only suffer from post abortion guilt now but when facing God,
Putt, damn is used throughout the Bible and I believe you know what it means.
I know many women (myself included) who go to Planned Parenthood for annual gynocological exams and affordable birth control. Some of us can't afford comprehensive health care insurance, but still like to take care of ourselves and it is much cheaper to go to PP for annual check-ups than to a regular OB-GYN. So, to answer your question jack, there are plenty of OTHER reasons that Planned Parenthood exists. In addition to addressing womens health, they also offer vasectomies for men. Were it not for PP I might not be able to afford my yearly check-ups.
Actually Mr. Jack, I have been to Planned Parenthood, I have been there to not only get birthcontrol when I was younger but also to take my girls friends for Paps and birth control. My point to you is that you haven't even been there yet you know so much about what they do and they do alot more than provide a safe place for a woman to make a choice and you are right that everyone has their right to an opinion but to always use religion to back up an opinion when I am sure you are not free of sin yourself is not right. If you are free of sin and a saint then by all means continue on but I doubt that you are. And if you read my post you would have seen that I am not a support of abortion but I do believe that if a woman is going to get one she should have a safe place to go to. So go ahead christian and assume I have had an abortion when you don't know me but just to set you straight I have never and would never, that is my choice at least I have one.........You are the one who really doesn't seem to be a real Christian.
A-men to vemerick and 5:00smwhr. Preach on.
I don't know where you find "sad and hate-filled" in my statement, PT. You say "there is infanticide in the bible, but not supported by the teachings of Christianity, " but the letter writer says she believes "in the truth of the entire Bible." I don't equate fetuses with delivered babies and I always think that the woman (the actuality) trumps the fetus (the potential).
so if no PP and no abortions because of religion, then is the church going to support these children? I doubt it.
A fetus becomes a baby about 15 months after conception, before that abortion/infanticide is not immoral.
Normal sexually active females (without contraception) shed about 1/2 of all conceptions. If abortion is murder, then our research should be directed in preventing all abortions, spontaneous or otherwise.
Then the world would soon be populated by people with all kinds of physical and psychological defects that those healthy ones would have to support. Wait! Isn't that close to what we have now? Spare me that false morality.
You folks can speak on these things such as fetus, babies alive or not alive or human being or not human being but it really is all moot...The Bible tells us who we are, where we came from, who made us and who directs our lives...We are all creations of God, whether it is for a long time or just a short while it is all determined by God..A child is created at the moment of conception..It has a soul and thus should not be murdered by the parent of said child under any circumstances...God did not give us laws just for a some to interpret them to suit the needs of the many. They are not to be debated or changed...That is just the way it is..I don't have all the answers the smartest man or women in the world today does not have all the answers but one does and that is God and Jesus Christ..
If you are so opposed to abortion, why don't you adopt all of the unwanted children. I'm sure that God would look kindly on you for doing that.
i would like to respond as a women that has had an abortion when i was the age of 19. i did it for an easy way out and because i was scared and most women do it for the same reason not because of a medical threat. i have had to suffer for 11 years not only emotionally but also physically for them sucking my insides out along with my child. may sound graphic, but that is what happened as i layed on a table here in the local augusta area planned parnethood in a white cold room as i allowed them to take my child which i knew not what i was doing and honestly thought it was right as that is what the world says.it took me 10 years to forgive myself and understand that god forgives me too. i have not physically recovered and still have feminie problems that started soon after.i still suffer daily that i am unworthy to have the children now that god has blessed my life with.unless you yourself has experienced this for yourself you have no place to speak on behalf of innocence young woman and child that may be in a terrible situation, rebellion, or whatever the case maybe, but she will suffer both emotionally and physically. so this is what you pro-choicer's are fighting for. suffering!
realist. Some people that are opposed to abortion do adopt. What makes you think they don't? It's a good thing Mary and Joseph didn't opt for abortion when they found themselves in such a scandalous situation. Where would the world be without Jesus? Try to explain to God the Father that Jesus in the womb was not a baby and that Mary and Joseph should not subject themselves to the embarrassment of a baby they couldn't fully explain.
these Christians are all about taking rights away from American people. It's about time people stand up for their freedom like the constitution states. Not like the bible which says we should own slaves and not cut our hair.
I don't understand how they can selectively choose scripure?
laff, we get unexplained children all the time here in the Harrisburg area from children as young as 13. Maybe they should call them Jesus because they too are born imaculate.
you pro lifer's really annoy me. you are the main ones who have posted comment after comment about how the girl who killed her kids shouldn't have had them in the first place, but you still say that abortion is wrong. also planned parenthood is not just an abortion clinic, it is also a pregnancy prevention center, thus the name, PLANNED PARENTHOOD, as in come in here to recieve birth control for you to use until you PLAN to become a parent. if more parents would enforce birth control instead of abstinence and damnation to hell for having pre-marital sex, then we wouldn't need the abortion part of the clinic, we'd only need to use the part that it is for, BIRTH CONTROL. now you hypocrites can say what you want about pre-marital sex, but the TRUTH is that teens are going to do it regardless of whether their parents approve or not. its a fact. white, black, rich, poor. if you people would stop listening to these so called pastors and"men of GOD" who only want your money, you would know that no sin is greater than the other. sin is sin. so pre-marital sex is no worse then you "christians" judging other people, because no man is free from sin. we are all sinners, and GOD forgives us all
do you people know how many teen girls come into the health dept. and into dr's offices lying to nurses telling them they are virigins, and have STD"s. then when you tell them you know, the first thing they want to know is if you are going to tell their parents. its really sad that parents scorn and judge their own chilren. this is why so many teens rebel. most parents dont konw the pressure these kid are under, and its easy for them to give into temptaion just as it is easy for us. that is why we, parents, should talk to our children daily, to make sure they can handle these situations. but most,( and by most i mean 99%), christians only believe what some fat man in a suit, standing in a pull pit tells them about their kids, instead of their own kids. so you "saints" keep listening to your good preachers, and your kids will continue to have gonnereah in their throats, and herpes in their mouths, and hide their pregnancies from you, the parents, for nine whole months, before you find out. the other thing i dont get about you "christians" is how you claim to be "holier than THOU" and most(90%) of you all are fat. as if glutton is not a sin. one of the seven deadly ones too.
