COPE, S.C. - Mr. Billie S. Washington, 316 River Vista Drive, Cope, S.C., died Wednesday afternoon, July 16, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, S.C., with Rev. Dan Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg with military honors. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg in charge of arrangements. He was born March 29, 1943 in Harlem, Ga., the son of the late James Willis Washington, Sr. and the late Cornelia Moore Washington. He served in the U.S. Marines and was retired from Albemarle Corporation. He was a member of the Edisto Shrine Club and the Order of the Eastern Star and Past Master of the Shibboleth Masonic Lodge # 28. He was the widower of the late Patricia P. Washington and was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Fogle and a number of brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Julie (David) Pendarvis of Bowman, S.C. and Sandy McCormick of Orangeburg, S.C.; one granddaughter, Michelle Gammons of Cope, S.C.; one grandson, Will Pendarvis of Bowman, S.C.; three sisters, Effie Newman, Mary Anderson Johnson, and Bonnie Bourassa, all of Augusta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Debbie Washington of Augusta, Ga.; special niece, Pam Swartz of Clinton, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the residence, 316 River Vista Drive, Cope, SC and at the funeral home. Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277.
