Help quake victims
The Augusta Chinese Coalition, including the Augusta Chinese Benevolent Association, CSRA Chinese Association, Augusta Chinese Christian Church, Augusta Chinese Fun Club Chorus and the Medical College of Georgia Scholar/Student Association, has raised $22,474 for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to aid victims of the China earthquake.
Nursing sorority
The following students from the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing have been inducted into the Phi Chi Beta chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc.: Desire Greene, Lorri Hays, Monique Germany and Artinsia Shakir .

The following students have been awarded $500 Irma Mildred Floyd Southward Memorial 2008 scholarships from the Augusta Area Alumni chapter of Fort Valley State University:

To receive grant
The Mentoring, Academics, Computers and Healthy Recreation Academy in Augusta has been selected to receive a $25,000 grant from the U.S. Tennis Association's Tennis and Education Foundation for the Aces for Kids program.

MCG helps food bank
The Senior Leadership unit was the overall champion of the Medical College of Georgia Health System's third annual food and funds drive for Golden Harvest Food Bank. During the competition, MCG Health System raised 4,084 pounds of food and $3,928.85 for the food bank.
Named honors student
Sarah A. Gibson , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Gibson, of Augusta, has been named a spring 2008 honors student at Phillips Exeter (N.H.) Academy.

Melissa Johnson , of Richmond County, has been named to the president's list for the spring quarter at Heart of Georgia Technical College, Dublin.
