MILLEN, Ga. - Elizabeth McBride Black, 89, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at her residence in Milledgeville, Georgia. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at the Crowe-Fields Funeral Home in Millen. Active Pallbearers will be nephews. Mrs. Black, affectionately known as "Libby" by her friends and family, was born in Vidette, Georgia, the daughter of the late William Boyd and Sarah Elmina Agerton McBride. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William Marvin Black, and three brothers, William Thomas McBride, George McBride, and Edward McBride. She worked as a beautician for many years in Augusta, Louisville and Millen. She was a member of the Millen United Methodist Church, The Beulah Garner Sunday School Class, and the Joy Circle. She was also a member and past president of the Azalea Garden Club. For many years, Libby enjoyed painting and her paintings hang in a number of homes in Jenkins County and beyond. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Theron Johnson, of Milledgeville; three grandchildren, Jason (Rachel) Johnson of Dublin, Jennifer (Reid) Bookwalter of Cumming, Ryan (Jen) Johnson of Winter Spring, FL, and five great-grandchildren, Justin Johnson of Sandersville/Dublin, Daniel Johnson of Sandersville, Parker and Payton Johnson of Winter Spring, FL, Porter Bookwalter of Cumming; a sister, Marjorie Story of Waynesboro; sisters-in-law, Edna Pearl McBride of Waynesboro, Virginia McBride of Millen, Marjorie B. Brett of Grovetown; nieces and nephews and dear friends, Hubert and Mary Radford of Milledgeville. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to United Hospice, 2484 Ingleside Ave., Bldg. 3, Macon, GA 31204.
