Man robs workers at N. Augusta restaurant
A masked man robbed a North Augusta restaurant at gunpoint as employees were leaving early Wednesday.
According to Department of Public Safety reports, two workers had closed the Ruby Tuesday on Knox Avenue just before 1 a.m. when a man emerged from the bushes and demanded they take him to the restaurant's money.
The man forced them to fill a bag with more than $2,000 before closing them in a walk-in cooler, the police report stated.

SUV malfunction was cause of fire
A fire that damaged several vehicles at University Hospital earlier this week was caused by a malfunction inside a Ford Expedition's engine, Augusta Fire Battalion Chief James Freeman said Wednesday.
Chief Freeman said firefighters responded Tuesday to an employee parking lot at the medical facility at 1350 Walton Way, where nine vehicles were damaged.
Steve Crawford, a University Hospital spokesman, said on Wednesday that no injuries were reported and four of the cars were towed from the parking lot.
Chief Freeman said there was no structural damage to the lot.
Bond reduced for woman charged in relative's death
Bond was reduced Wednesday for a woman accused of killing a disabled relative who was found living in squalor.
Richmond County Superior Court Judge J. Carlisle Overstreet reduced bond from $40,000 to $20,000 for Jeanne Peterson after the prosecuting attorney couldn't say definitively when he would be prepared to bring the case to trial.
Her husband, Buel "Chuck" Peterson, who is also accused of murder in the case, already has been released on bond.
Police found 30-year-old Christina Baxter in the front yard of the Petersons' Karian Drive home in October.
The 46-pound woman, who was deaf, mute and physically unable to walk or feed herself, was dead.
Authorities said Ms. Baxter was so badly malnourished that her body was like that of a child with a thin layer of skin covering bone.
Inside the home, feces was found covering the walls; the floors were covered with newspapers; and a 200-pound pig roamed about.
