Dianne Cleveland (SYLACAUGA, Ala.)

SYLACAUGA, Ala. - Dianne Burroughs Cleveland, age 72, of Sylacauga, Ala., passed away July 12, 2008 in Birmingham, Ala. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred T. Cleveland. She is survived by her dear friend and companion, Don McNeil of Augusta, Ga.; her son, Robert I. Wendt (Jane) of Glennallen, Alaska; three brothers, David Burroughs (Carolyn) of Anniston, Ala., Don Burroughs (Julia), of Ashland, Ala., and Doug Burroughs (Sarah) of Smith Station, Ala.; stepson, Rick Cleveland; stepdaughter, Jan Francisco (Mel), Midland Valley, S.C.; and grandchildren. Dianne was born August 14, 1935 in Clay County, Ashland, Ala. to W. B. Burroughs and Mazie Bradford. She graduated from Clay County High School, Ashland, Ala. She served on the Board of Directors of The Sylacauga Boys' Club, Sylacauga Arts Council, Sylacauga Beautification Council, Comer Museum, Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, the ARC of South Talladega County, and numerous other organizations. She was elected the Exchange Club's "Woman of the Year" and served as Grand Marshall of the Sylacauga Christmas Parade. She was a 1992 graduate of "Leadership Sylacauga" and was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church of Sylacauga. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Radney-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Sylacauga, Ala., with the Rev. Byron White officiating. Burial will be at Olive Branch Cemetery in Ashland, Ala. Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Clark, Mike Cleveland, Tommy Rumsey, Dr. Ted Spears, Lister Proctor, the Honorable Tommy Dobson, Jesse Cleveland, and John Floyd. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sylacauga Beautification Council, P.O.
