AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday, July 11, 2008 at Trinity Hospital, Mrs. Judith (Judy) Cooper Murphey, 81, of Augusta. She was preceded in death by her parents Julian I. and Lucy Andrews Cooper and her sister Lucy Ann Davis. Mrs. Murphey was a native and life long resident of Augusta. She was a 1944 graduate of Tubman High School and a 1946 graduate of the Junior College of Augusta and Barrett School of Nursing. She was the former president of the Cross County Garden Club and the Augusta Players. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and was active with Boy Scout Troop # 2. She had been a nurse at University Hospital blood bank, Shepeard Community Blood Center and a school nurse at Tutt Middle School. Mrs. Murphey was a member of The Church of The Good Shepherd Episcopal. Family members include sons: Alexander T. Murphey (San Francisco), Eugene E. Murphey (Atlanta), Dr. Julian I. Murphey and wife DaNelle (Martinez), David D. Murphey (Polatka, FL), Michael C. Murphey and wife Amanda (Martinez) and grandchildren: Brian Murphey, Jennifer Murphey, Todd Murphey, Alex W. Murphey, Deidre Brodie, Kristen G. Murphey, Nicholas Sean Murphey, Leanna Murphey, Courtney Murphey and Lauren Murphey; brother-in-law: Charles Davis; nephew: Randy Davis and niece: Rebecca "Becky" Lawson. Burial Service will be held Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Andrew Menger officiating.
