AIKEN, S.C. - Mr. Donald W. 'Don' Wood, 51, affectionately known as 'Pop-Pop', of Aiken, SC, beloved husband of twenty-one years to Ann Thomason Wood and son of the late James Edward Wood and the late Dorothy Pruitt died Sunday, July 13th, 2008, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Aiken, SC. Born in Ada, OK, he had been a resident of the area since 1985. At the time of his death he had been a Millwright Engineer with Austin Industries for twenty-five years. Don was Past Master of the New Ellenton Masonic Lodge and was a member of IHRA. He enjoyed NASCAR and had a passion for motorcycles and the water. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Dennis 'Jr.' Barton, (Betsy) Jackson, SC, Kathy Mathis, (Richard) Beech Island, SC, and Anthony Barton, (Stephanie) Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Mathis, Hollie Barton, Hart Mathis, Jacob Barton, Rayne Barton, A.J. Barton, and Sterling Barton; and great-grandchild, Presley Pounds. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16th, 2008, at 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastor Steven E. McAbee officiating. The family has asked that memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
