Don't blame Bush for death spiral

  • Follow Letters

All I hear is Bush, Bush, Bush! Stop and look at the way our country (the land of milk and honey) has gone over the past 200 years. Our Founding Fathers are spinning in their graves. Like it are not, our country was founded on God's laws and principles. But look at where we are today.

We have driven God out of our schools and government buildings, etc. We have government-approved murder of the innocent unborn, men marrying men and women marrying women. Your 12-year-old daughter can have a abortion without your approval, but she can't have her ears pierced without it.

Thousands of illegals come into our streets and demand us to give them their rights and we do nothing. We don't have a clue who might be in this country now. You people who embrace the illegals; Take them home with you . Give them your Social Security, pay for their schooling and health insurance and get them out of the real American people's pockets.

Blaming President Bush is like blaming Bobby Cox for the Atlanta Braves losing. Look at the idiots behind Bush who he has to deal with. What a joke! It is a shame of all the men and women that have fought and died for the likes of this. It is time to turn back to God and our Founding Fathers. Remember: You reap what you sow.

Wow, you sound like our fickle President Bush. You seriously need that cup of Java at Starbuck's don't you? Both the President and Congress are to blame for our status as is. Yes, I mean both parties are guilty as charged and running amok on spending our money and pork barrel expenses, along with our current other issues you stated. And yet, we are suppose to vote someone in office who will probably do what all others have done...Turn their back on the American People!

Both this president and this congress are part of the ongoing problem with this country. Mostly, it's the voters though. They all see the problem in the other districts, but feel their representatives are just fine. That's the same attitude that has kept Kerry, Frank and Kennedy in office in Massachusetts (for example).

JesusIsComing

I do blame President Bush for one thing: This country has not had another attack since 9-11. Not too many in congress had much to do with that. Thank you, President Bush.

The writer is correct that this country is in a death spiral. Greed, corruption, incompetence & insensitivity are to blame IMO. Keeping prayer in the public schools or putting prayer back in the public schools is useless unless people internalize so-called Biblical values. We have to consider our relationship with other Americans. That is what unites us in common purpose. Americans also have to consider our relationship with the rest of the world. Nothing stays the same. The Depression & WWII first challenged & then changed America & Americans. The family homestead has given way to a more rootless existence. Corporations do not unite us on a neighborly basis. Competition for dwindling natural resources underscores the necessity to develop sustainable economies, and humanity absolutely must move beyond war as an instrument to settle international disputes or civilization will not survive on this planet. There is no doubt that leadership has failed this country, but every American save the innocent children shares the blame for our demise. Frugality, humility, civic responsibility, neighborliness, honesty, competence & craftsmanship are some of the characteristics we have forgotten.

Cain, it's good to see you're experiencing a period of lucidity. I agree with your post. Prayer in school, alone, doesn't make the big difference, but removing it from school does represent the actions that precipitated the lack of neighborliness that exists today. The strong move to remove individualism, responsibility and self confidence from our society so the "group" or "village" can be given the credit for accomplishments, and the fault for failures, is another contributor to the current attitude. While the rest of the world used to envy our social and financial successes, they now avoid us like the pretenders we are. The low personal values and "everyone should be exactly alike" attitude taught in our schools has come home to roost. Our primary schools and those that have run them for the past 50 years are responsible for our current social attitude. The long term plan laid out by Karl Marx stated that to control a country, gain control of the entertainment industry, the schools and the government ... in that order. Sound familiar?

Well to be quite honest this country has been in a downward spiral for over 40 some odd years...It is not the fault of any one man or woman it is the people's fault for wanting it all and not wanting to deal with the adverse consequences...This nation began its deterioration when the family unit began to descend into a pit of nothingness, when God was seen as a nuisance and politically incorrect, therefore was given a place of dishonor among other dusty outdated books, and when people began to see that their lives were more bearable if they could but only live"like they wanted" without a care for anyone or anything but themselves...This is not one man's fault but it most assuredly is all people's fault whether it be from advocating and promoting excessive pleasures or sitting on the pews in church doing absolutely nothing...Time to get up and realize God is going to have His way no matter what or who comes along...Stop doing for yourselves but do what is right and honest for all people and for our children's children...

de, are you eligible to vote? If so, look in the mirror, YOU are the problem.

thedarkesthourisbeforeda

The letter writer is correct, we reap what we sow. We are just beginning to reap the benefits of kennedy's and Johnson's "Great Society"-----the dumb down of America!!!!

thedarkesthourisbeforeda

If you don't believe this country has dumbed down to or very close to, the p oint of no return, just turn on your tv and watch a few ads. They are so dumbed down, well---------even a cave man could understand!

justthefacts

We are not in a death spiral in MHO. Every generation since the start of this country has gone through tough, probably tougher times. Everthing goes in cycles. However, I think, the next 10 years will certainly be trying as we work through the energy, housing, social security, and immigration problems. Once the election is over and politicians stop running for election and get to work, maybe we can make some progress. As an example, we will drill for oil locally as soon as the democrats get in power and that will help. The same with the other issues.

thedarkesthourisbeforeda

justthefacts and just when did politicians get down to work aftr an election was over??? and just when are the democrats gonna start drilling locally????? They haven't for 40 years, what's changed??? I hope you are just trying to "crack" a funny, you can't be that ignorant.

jackfruitpaper833

The US is not the land of Milk and Honey, It was promised to Israel we are NOT Israel. Amen

justthefacts

jack, it has been "Milk and Honey" for me. I guess it depends on your outlook on life. Dark, are you saying nothing has been done in 40 yrs? Well, OK, then. Today a bipartisan group of congress gets together to find common ground on energy issues. Not much will come of it. But, many lower level Democrats know we have to drill here. As soon as the election is over, we will.

I disagree there are not TWO parties in Washington...just one the sad thing is there is not a real difference between the DemoSocialists and the Republicrats in Washington.

Who are you all kidding, our issues stem from the corporate greed and govermental waste. We have allowed all manufacturing to go over seas to maximize profit and limit eviromental impact. As soon as we spend a dollar at Walmart, I would bet 80 cents is on it's way over seas. We have sold out our own american brothers and sisters to Chinese and Arabs so we can reap profits and maintain the not in my backyard philosophy. When is America going to wake up and realize the only way to increase the value of the american dollar is to stop bleeding it off to all these other countries who could give a crap whether we survive or not. Strategically, we are being bled off, weakened economically by those who would love to see us fall.

President bush will go down as the worst president in the history of the united states. Katrina, iraq, 911, gas prices, halliburton. We went into iraq for oil and now gas in 5.00 dollars a gallon. He has a coke head anyway. The only reason he became president is because white privlege. Their is no way nobody would have voted for a D student to become president. If he was another race. But yeah president bush is a guy you wanted to have a beer with. What idiots. He won in 2004 even though diebold cheated then too. But in 2000 he definitely lost to al gore. Everybody knows diebold stole the election and cheated for him. And we are trying to criticize zimbawe for their elections. We stole a presidency for al gore with coporate lawyers and the supreme court.

dani

justus...I see you described Bush as "white". Any particular reason for that?

justthefacts

motivate..take a pill Man, you've lost it. BTW, Bush's gpa was higher than Kerry's. he wasn't a D student. Now, you on the other hand, what Degree do you hold?

grouse

The country was founded on principals of government, including the Magna Carta. God is no where to be found in the Constitution. Bush is responsible for this massive drain of funds to support the illegal invasion of Iraq along with many other current ills of this country.

justthefacts

right grouse, let's not vote for him!

willistontownsc

First and foremost, the writer knows nothing about John Lennon or Milk and Honey. The our misogynistic culture has gotten us where we are. American women are second-class citizens by Bush and the likes of this writer and Andy Windham of Wagener (who wrote Saturday's misogynistic letter).

And it isn't just Bush who has disrespected females. Our hospitals have disrespected women as well as most of the major businesses.

Our obsession with procreation is easily the biggest threat to our environment as mentioned by the Times and Democrat of Orangeburg.

And then there is 4,100+ of our brave servicepeople being slaughtered by this administration's lust for oil in Iraq.

Our culture of misogyny is what is destroying America.

JESUSISCOMING, we have not had another World War since WORLD WAR II, so which President get credit for that?

RockyMayer

HYPOCRITES 08

Why did race have to come in play?

bone

lots of people did vote for a D student (john kerry). white privilege is not the reason bush won, nor is black power the reason obama will likely win. the disaster that is the bush presidency features not one single item that can be called conservative fiscal management. besides that, he has done very little to reduce the federal gov't intrusion into state & local affairs. if obama weren't the 2nd coming of jfk i'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

christian134

Your not that quick on your feet rocky....:-)

dadgethiskids

The Democrats control both the house and senate, so don't blame just the Excutive Branch. Instead ask your congressman why he or she is delaying any motion to open up our own natural resourses?
