Campaign straight out of Scripture

  • Follow Letters

One recent Sunday morning, I read my United Methodist devotional, in which the writer talks about the prodigal son who left home, but then came back repentant and changed, and the self-righteous son who remained at home, yet harbored a bitter, judgmental attitude toward his father and his brother.

I then read in The Augusta Chronicle of Barry Fleming's attempt to rehash old news about Paul Broun's sins of the past. How very un-Christian and mean-spirited will Mr. Fleming get in his desperate attempt for political power?

Paul Broun has shown by his actions that he is a changed man (the prodigal who came home). He has demonstrated that he represents the interests of the whole district, has strong conservative values and has represented us well in Washington, D.C.

If anything, Mr. Fleming's distorted, negative advertising -- and now his arrogant, judgmental attitude (the son who remained at home) -- toward Mr. Broun show me that Mr. Fleming is the one not qualified to represent me in Congress.

I'm glad someone wrote a letter in support of Dr. Broun. That hatchet job of an article that the Chronicle did Sunday for its endorsement of Fleming was just uncalled for. It was so unlike the Chronicle, but I guess they are and have friends that are just totally upset of the Columbia County politcal machine losing power over this district. Well I hope that after next Tuesday they realize that the entire district has a Conservative voice in Washington and we want him to stay there. By the way Mr. Morris give Dr. Broun a call, you would return the call of any other Congressman.

Watching political ads reminds me of the saying, quarterbacks get too much credit when teams win and too much blame when they lose. Congress runs the country and this includes most decisions that affect the economy. They give the President their approval when they agree and can over ride his decisions when the don't agree. It's time for Senators and House reps in Washington to be held accountable for the poor job they have done. A great example is what have they done since Jimmy Carter was president to help provde gas and other sources of energy for us.

Yes Broun is right out of scripture OK. After being exposed to his deceiving tactics the scripture regarding a wolf in sheeps clothing comes to mind. Just a small example: Conducting and manipulating HIS OWN POLLS to proclaim himself with a high approval rating. That is a lie >>>Yesterday he had one of his BOGUS polls operating. The recorded survey stated it was a congressional candidate survey and if you wanted to vote for Broun push #1, Fleming Push #2 and Saxon push #3. Well when you push anything but Broun it tells you that isn't an option. He has decieved people with his so called polls for months--Wake up people!!!!!!!I hope the voters aren't that stupid.

I have heard that this poll thing is another ploy to somehow try to discredit Broun which makes a lot more sense than Broun spending good money on a faulty poll. But even if the last one was faulty, what about the other 3? Where are Fleming's poll numbers from the last few months? I know the voters are not stupid which is a bad thing for Barry Fleming. He is counting on emotional reactions instead of imformed desisions.

Did anyone look at the word document that was attached to the most recent Tarrance poll released by Broun. If you look at the document properties the author of the document is Jessica Morris and it was created the morning the email was sent not the date that was given on the memo.
If Broun wants to give credence to his ridiculous poll numbers he needs to attach an original, unedited document not a Dan Rather forgery.

Those of you who are BF supporters are not doing BF any favors. If you think BF is more qualified than Paul Broun, you should point out those qualifications. Paul Broun says he is a strict Constitionalist. Before he votes on any bill, it must pass his four way test; 1. Is it Constitutional? 2. Is it morally right? 3. Is it something we need? and 4. Can we afford it? Congressman Broun's voting record supports that he has been true to this conservative principles. I admire Congressman Broun for staying focused on issues that are important to us. In my opinion, Paul Broun is one of the very best representative we have. REELECT PAUL BROUN!

Augustaleadership

Fleming seems so desparate to win that he would do anything. I wish he would have stayed in the GA House where he could really help our city and the region.
