Also he isn't Marion Wiliiams. That would be enough to persuade me to vote for Tarver.
I wholeheartedly support state Sen. Ed Tarver's bid for reelection for District 22, and ask my fellow electors to vote for him in the Democratic primary July 15.
Tarver is well-respected by his colleagues in the Senate, and as one of his fellow senators has said, "Augusta is blessed to have a person of Tarver's caliber, leadership ability, dignity and integrity."
Tarver has pledged to continue to sponsor legislation that will attract industry, create higher-paying jobs and support existing industries.
He will work to make life more affordable for all Georgians, and fight to guarantee that all Georgians have access to affordable health care.
He will support legislation to fully fund public education, and oppose attempts to weaken restrictions on interbasin water transfers.
Tarver also will promote local legislation that will provide for effective and productive governmental operations and local control. We must return Tarver to Atlanta because his experience and relationships are being evaluated by senators in leadership positions, and the end result could gain him membership of a very prominent committee, which would benefit our city immensely.
A vote for Tarver is a vote for forward Augusta and Georgia.
Tracy E. Williams Jr., Augusta

He is also one of the "Legislators" who could not get together for the common good and do something about the Bozos down at the JB Arena who make a laughing stock of all Augustans. It is too bad we come down to only two choices -- but on the other hand who would want to run for office in Augusta anyway?
We have one week to put "Operation CS" (common sense) into place. Here's the strategy. Republicans in Senate District 22 should go to the polls (early voting or July 15) and ask for a DEMOCRATIC ballot. Then, vote for Marion Williams. I know there are VERY few of you Republicans in District 22, but there might just be enough of you to swing the primary to Williams. Then, in November, there might just be enough Tarver supporters to swing the election to John Butler. Pretty sweet, huh?
And what if your plan does not work and you wind up with Williams? I would not want to take that chance.
if butler looses this one, will he finally go away?
vote tarver!
I don't understand why everyone is so supportive of Ed Tarver. If he hadn't played politics with the House proposal that Wayne Howard drew up, then the Coliseum Authority would have been fixed. Go to the Senate website and see for yourself how many times Augusta is mentioned in Senate Bills, not resolutions. Almost none. Look for the meat and you will not find any. Today, even Sen. Charles Walker would be impotent to help District 22. Walker was actually quite good for Augusta when the Democrats were the majority.
Would you rather have Williams? He doesn't even know enough of the English language to write a proposal. I'm not a Tarver fan but I'd rather have him than Williams any day.
Maybe this is about the Augusta Bar and not District 22.
To WyldsFam4: You asked a good question - - what if my plan does not work and we wind up with Williams? Well, I do not think that Williams will vote any differently in the GA General Assembly than Tarver will. It won't matter. Operation CS is the only chance to get something different.
Calling on all Democrats in the 22nd District to go out and Vote for Tarver. We would be embarrassed with Marion Williams up in Atlanta.
Tarver is a good man, a good husband, a good father and married a good woman. He has represented us with dignity and self-respect. He is active and engaged in his community. He is a good listener and is fair-minded. I don't trust anybody completely, but I will put my trust in him everyday to do a far better job of representing us than Marion Williams. I agree with Mr. Tracy E. Williams, Jr.'s letter.
Thanks baroness for supporting Sen. Tarver. I hope your friends who live in the 22nd district will vote for him. We have become the laughing stock of Georgia with so many rookie politicians. We need big minded people to represent us. Persons who see the big picture, and work for all the peolple. Tarver is the choice of many---Williams is the choice of a few.
Let me hear from all the Tarver's supporters.
As Williams has said, "A vote for Tarver is a vote for forward Augusta and Georgia."

Name two bills Ed sponsored that pertain to his constituents or Augusta. I want to research them and become better informed.
You might have issues with Tarver, but if you take a look at the question and answer article, Williams does not have a clue about the issues. Tarver is head and shoulders above Williams. And there are other black people in this district who do have common sense and we won't vote "MotorMouth" Williams back into office.
There is one of the delegation that knew Tarver would reneg on Wayne Howard's House Bill. Barbara got Ed to kill it. Therefore, the Authority lives on, as is. This is why the people should be disappointed with their incumbent. Ask him to give the people a better explanation of what went down. Maybe he can.
I would feel less uncertain about a Tarver victory in the Demo primary om 7/15 if a certain media MOUTH would develop a case of chronic laryngitis lasting at least a week. Every time this "pundit" rants against Reverend Williams or praises Senator Tarver, I fear that the former gains and the latter loses hundreds of votes.
Thanks, Mr. Judge, for commenting on the Coliseum Authority and the fact that Tarver killed the reform bill that Wayne Howard and others from the Augusta delegation got passed by the House in April. Tarver promised his support then reneged. That kind of character we do not need representing Augusta.
And Tarver's law firm represented St. Joseph Hospital. In Tarver's first session as a new senator, he introduced a bill to provide unusual procedures to bypass review by the medical needs board regarding their sale to Trinity. It smacked of conflict of interest. A politician that plays loose with introducing legislation for personal gain is not one to be held up as ethical.
Someone used the term "mellow puppet" and that describes Ed to a tee. A Senator getting his marching orders from Barbara Sims. That Authority needs help and he helped it alright, right back into the front pages. He should be held accountable for his vote.
