AIKEN, S.C. - John Trotter Sales, 84, of 139 Sharyn Lane, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Maine. Born in Asheville, NC to the late Sandy Trotter and Edith Sorrells Sales, he was a resident of Aiken for 55 years, where he retired in 1981 from the Savannah River Plant (nuclear operations) where he was employed by Dupont. Mr. Sales was a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church of America. He was a member of the Presbyterian Men's Fellowship and The Force Group. He was the secretary of his bowling league and a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame. Mr. Sales was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Pyro munitions ship during WWII. Surviving is his wife Mildred Gibbs Sales of the home, son Sandy Sales and wife Alice of Aiken, daughters Johnnie Oakes and husband Dan of Wilton, Maine and Wanda Burkhalter and husband of Wayne of Asheville, NC, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, a brother, Ralph Sales precedes him in death. Funeral services will be 3:30 pm, Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Fair Play Presbyterian Church in Fair Play, SC with the Reverend Bob Petit officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the funeral home.
