Benedict has what it takes to serve us

Whether you like or dislike Lee Benedict, you must admit that he displays the spirit that is needed to really reform our sorry government -- not just government at the state level, but also at the federal level.

Lee Benedict is a man who wants to fix what he perceives as a lack of political representation, and is sacrificing his time to do something about it. He doesn't do this for fame or power; he does this because he feels this is the right thing to do.

He is obviously not a polished and practiced politician, but he is not afraid to say what he believes, even under the barrage of criticism and ridicule he receives from our supposedly unbiased local media. His candor and commitment is something learned in an institution that is very foreign to many of our citizens today. If you can't figure out what I'm referring to, then ask a veteran.

When you are faced with a choice between an honest, well-meaning man and a career politician, I hope you will consider what is really important, not just in this political race for Georgia House District 118, but in all others you will ever have the privilege to vote in. God bless America!

Harbin has been committed to this community and represented it well for a number of years. He has served without seeking fame or fortune, given up time from his family, helped countless people, and dealt with a barrage of criticism himself from the media. Benedict is attempting to win on 1 negative because he has nothing else. If you want to consider what is truly important for this state and for CC then you will vote for Harbin.

"1 negative"? Are you serious??? What about his capades with Robin Williams and Joey Brush? The GREAT plan? His blind allegiance to Glenn Richardson? Austin Rhodes all of the sudden singing his praises after months of bashing (probably blackmail for silence about his involvment with the 3 musketeers)? The Governor vetoing more than a cool million for CC schools? Neglecting/ignoring constituents? That ridiculous letter sent AFTER a poll? Emily Ham not being able to be found by ATL reporters? What was he doing in ATL on a Sunday at 1am when no legislative session was happening? The alleged pedestrian in the street? Ben Harbin is an extremely arrogant politician and 1 day he will get what he deserves...let's hope it is a resounding butt thrashing on July 15th

Harbin is no angel, nor is he a devil. Likewise for Benedict. This election is a chance for District 118 to elect a fresh face (Benedict) and let us see what he can do. Such a hiatus will give Harbin time to reflect about what is truly important in his life and his career. Electing Benedict will make both men stronger and Columbia County will be better off.

Is it true that Lee Benedict and his family bring in almost $1600 montly in government handouts? This is not a military retirement. He only stayed in there for 8 years. This is from various other programs, apparently. Is Benedict paying for his radio commercials with money we give him to help support his family? Benedict says he will find a job if he is elected because Representatives don't have a problem finding work. He should take some of that money and pay the court judgements he has against him. This is one of the strangest local candidates we have had in a long time.

I say it is time for change/hope...Harbin must go..

Um, Riverman (Harbin), you have no clue do you? It is obvious that you are a Drunk Driving Deacon groupie hellbent on getting him reelected. Even I know that Benedict has discussed the judgements and that he has a lawyer going after the company that breeched the contract...sing a new tune. At least Benedict has come clean more than a year ago...so...when will Ben Harbin? What a joke he is, not to mention an embarrassment. By the way, when a veteran, especially a combat veteran, receives a pension, what's the problem? At least veterans worked for it! OK, let's say his pension is $1600/month (which it's not based upon the digging into military pensions I've done), that's $19,200/year TAX FREE; a legislator's salary is $16,995; legislators receive a $175/day TAX FREE per diem which is $7000. So, if what you say is true, he will have an income of $26,200 TAX FREE plus another $17k in salary. You sound as if he's at the poverty level. Take some lithium Riverman and come to reality after you shred the hate.

don't know about the amount, but I understand that Harbin helped Benedict get medicaid assistance for his son.
