THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Robert E. Hawkins, widower of Mrs. Grace Hawkins, died Monday, June 23, 2008, in the V. A. Medical Center, in Augusta. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29, in the Thomson First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. James Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hawkins was a native of Greenville County, S.C., but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was retired from Georgia Iron Works and an Army Veteran. He was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the A.G. Leroy Sunday School Class. Survivors include his son, Mr. Lonnie Hawkins, Salem, Utah; 6 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Russell Gary, J. C. Langham, James Bridges, Newt Hildebrand, Bill Bales.
