Romeo Landry (GROVETOWN, Ga.)

GROVETOWN, Ga. - Mr. Joseph Romeo Landry Sr. of Grovetown died on Saturday, June 21, 2008. He was 75 years old. Mr. Landry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Miriam P. Landry in January of 2008. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Homes, West Chapel, 3686 Wheeler Road, Augusta. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Bishop Jason Claar will officiate. Committal services, with military honors, will follow in the mausoleum at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Mr. Landry is survived by his children, Linda Bowman and her husband Samuel, Robert Landry, Karen Powell, and Joseph Romeo (Joey) Landry Jr.; step-children, Donald Inglett, Ronald Inglett, and Connie Accord; his grandchildren, Melyssa, Brandon, Dana, Heather, Tara, Rebecca, Robert, Jarrett, Caleb, Morgan, Rachel, Taylor, Troy, and Ashley; his sisters, Jeanette Landry, Doris Landry- Kruse, and Evone King. Mr. Landry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Sergeant and was a combat wounded veteran. Mr. Landry was a member of the American Legion Post No. 205. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
