NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Entered into rest Saturday, June 21st, 2008, Mr. Sam Alan Mitchum, 64, of North Augusta, SC, beloved son of the late Theodore Walter and Bessie Marie Free Mitchum. Born in Clearwater, FL, he had been a resident of Aiken County all of his life. A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Prior to his health declining, Sam was a Maintenance Supervisor with Litchfield Industries, Augusta, GA. He was of the Pentecostal faith, enjoyed golfing, Astronomy, Cooking, and Four Wheeling. Family members include his children, Kimberly Carlson, (Patrick) Pensacola, FL, Pam Swann, (Clay) North Augusta, SC, Angela Matheny, (Sam) Westminster, CO, Sammi Mitchum, (Billy Burns) Mountville, SC, and Nikki Abstance, (Ronald) Aiken, SC; siblings, Mae Hess, Aiken, SC, Barbara Jean Mitchell, Saluda, SC, Mary Kaney, (Wayne) Gloverville, SC, Helen Masters, (Rick) Augusta, GA, Wilbur Mitchum, (Ann) Ridge Spring, SC, Jackie Mitchum, (Janice) Langley, SC, Danny Mitchum, (Bobbi Jean) Hephzibah, GA, and Sandra Hair, Langley, SC; and sixteen grandchildren. At his request, Sam will be cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, June 24th, 2008, at 2 o'clock at Bath Pentecostal Holiness Church, Bath, SC, with Pastor Bill Branch and Pastor Todd Blackwell officiating.
