Two teens arrested in multistate break-ins

North Augusta authorities arrested two teenagers Saturday who are accused of breaking into several cars between Pennsylvania and South Carolina.

North Augusta Department of Public Safety officers charged Gary Richard Toole, 18, of Belair, Md., and Dustin Michael Nance, 19, of Stewartstown, Pa., each with three counts of breaking into motor vehicles, possession of stolen vehicle and simple larceny, according to a North Augusta Department of Public Safety news release.

Officers responded to a car break-in on the 900 block of Lake Avenue in North Augusta about 1 a.m. Saturday.

The victim described a red pickup truck speeding away from his truck. Golf clubs were stolen from the bed of his truck, according to the release. Later, officers stopped a 1997 Toyota pickup matching the description.

Officers determined the truck was stolen from Pennsylvania and discovered the golf clubs, along with a GPS navigation system, stereo systems and other items.

Several car break-ins have been reported in North Augusta's Hammond Hill Villa area. Anyone with additional information can call North Augusta Department of Public Safety at (803) 279-2121.
