EDGEFIELD, S.C. - Dr. Carl Dean English, 89, of Edgefield, husband of the late Mary Brockston English, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab. Graveside services will be held Monday, June 23, 2008 at 10 A.M. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, S.C. Dr. English was born in Anderson, S.C. and was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church. He was a Lt. Cdr. as Chaplain in the U.S. Navy during WW II. After his discharge from the Navy, he received his Doctorate Degree at the Southern Baptist Seminary and was pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Liberty, N.C. for a number of years. After his tenure at Liberty Baptist Church, he became a Professor at Anderson College and retired there after 20 years service. Survivors include 2 Sisters- Helen Nelson, Dallas, Ga., Juanita Waldrop, Rome, Ga.; 2 Brothers- Millard English, West Virginia, and Marvin English, Edgefield; Dr. English was predeceased by a daughter, Carla English, and brothers, Tillman, Dorsey, and Lee English.
