Noise near ballpark is interminable

  • Follow Letters

Events at Julian Smith Park and the baseball stadium are a fact of life. What I cannot understand is why the volume of music and announcements must be loud enough to be clearly audible in homes across the lake with windows closed, and the air conditioner and television on. The noise lasted three or four hours one recent evening, ending well past 10 p.m. Who knows how many hours I'll have to endure in the future.

I am ready to pull my hair out. I came home at 2 p.m. and could not believe the auditory assault. As I write this, it is now 7:30. My guess is that it will go on until midnight.

No one is suggesting events not be held, but how about a little respect for the rights of the few? Complaining to local officials is pointless. Big bucks and big names trump a handful of property owners. The majority has a right to have fun, but turn down the volume a few thousand decibels, please .

that raucus noise you heard was probably the Red Cross fundraiser concert. How dare they.

Mr. Taylor, you must be hearing things. Mayor Copenhaver says that GreenJacket stadium is so run-down that no one dares go there anymore. That's why he wants $20 million of your tax dollars to build a new one downtown. That couldn't have been a concert you heard. Just ask Deke.

Here I was thinking the prices of houses over there were going down because of those slums on Broad Street. I never thought about the stadium noise If the stadium moves the noise will move, but then that is one less nice thing in that area and more land for blight. I think the writer should cut their losses and get out. It is no win to live there.

I live on the lake and I don't mind a bit - I enjoy the fireworks - somrtimes I get to hear a free concert in my yard - and my property velue is quite stable - those slums are empty because the city is rennovating - get a life, buy some ear plugs, relocate

I know a way to drop the value of those McMansions across the river and annoy a whole lot of well-heeled people. Put the new stadium nearly across the river from them. Oh wait, that's the plan already. I'm glad I didn't buy one of them, I would hate the uncertainty of an eyesore and noise complaint across the river looming over me. I would be planning to move away the day ground breaks for the new stadium.

baroness, why are you taking pot shots at people across the river. Just because they have achieved more than you? Jealously is an ugly trait.
