AUGUSTA, Ga. - Betty Jean Glenn Teer died Sunday at the Medical College of Georgia. Born April 28, 1937 in Gastonia, NC to Mary Jean Smith Glenn and Henry Franklin Glenn, she grew up in Gastonia, then graduated from Gulf Park College in Gulf Port, Mississippi. She received a degree in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she met the love of her life, the late Hubert Otto Teer, Jr. Betty Jean was a long time resident of Durham, NC and moved to Augusta in 2000 to be near her grandchildren. She was a member of and a contributor to many civic and community organizations, including the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties, the Debutante Ball Society of Durham, Triangle Hospice, Animal Protection Society of Durham, Meals on Wheels and Delta Delta Delta Sorority. In Durham, she was a member of Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church where she served as wedding coordinator for many years. In Augusta, she attended bible study at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church. Betty Jean enjoyed gardening, attending her grand- children's sporting events, and being with her cat, "Puss." Surviving are her children, Robert Glenn Teer of Bowling Green, OH, David Allen Teer of Hope Mills, NC, and Caroline Teer Yort and her husband Bennett Atherton Yort of Augusta; grandchildren, Kathryn Teer Yort, Mary Glenn Caroline Yort, and Bennett Atherton Yort, Jr. of Augusta; a sister, Martha Glenn Bailey and her husband Larry Bailey of Cary, NC; nephews, Russell Newton Barringer, III, Edward Teer Barringer, Stephen Wright Barringer, and Stephen Glenn Bailey; and a niece, Kimberly Bailey Hueter; and many grand nieces and grand nephews. A graveside funeral will be held 11:00 Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, NC. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church, 927 W.
