MARTINEZ, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday, June 13, 2008, at the residence, Mr. J. Wayne Phillips, 42, husband of Cathyle W. Phillips. Mr. Phillips was born in Oakridge, TN, but grew up in Knoxville and moved to Augusta in 1989 after joining the US Army. After separating from the Army he began a career in the computer field. At his death he was employed by Fidelity National Information Services as a Data Analyst. Mr. Phillips was a member of the Body of Christ Ministries. He loved fishing, spending time with friends and playing computer games. Family members in addition to his wife include his son: Dathan Wayne Phillips; daughter: Kayla Louise Phillips; parents: DeLois Phillips and the late Frank Phillips; brothers: Carl Phillips and wife Sandy, Rexie Phillips, Joseph Phillips; brothers-in-law: David Wilson and wife Coni, Jonathan Wilson and wife Jill; mother-in-law: Penelope Nichols and many special nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of 5 South and the BMT Clinic at MCG and everyone at Heartland Hospice. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Larry Bullard and Pastor Tony Monroe. Pallbearers will be Bruce Petitt, Dave Worley, David Worley, Vincent Fererra, John Landis and Bill Westbrook. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
