GROVETOWN, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Doctors Hospital, Mr. Val M. Barnett, Jr. 65, husband of Sarah H Barnett. Mr. Barnett was a native of Damascus, VA and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He had resided in Grovetown for the past 26 years. He was retired from the Cleveland, Ohio Police Department and was the former Grovetown Chief of Police. Family members in addition to his wife include his sons and daughter-in-law: Val Barnett III of Harlem, Herb and Pamela Barnett of Martinez; grandchildren: Katie Barnett, Jessie Barnett, Brittany Barnett, Thomas Barnett; sister and brother-in-law: Patricia and Steve Chizmarik of Grovetown and stepfather: Woodrow Nunn of Bluefield, VA. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Chaplain Alan Faulkner officiating. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
