AUGUSTA, Ga. - April Yvette Outlaw Brown was called home on Thursday, June 5, 2008 in Augusta, Ga. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Burke County High School with Rev. Darren K. Newton, Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Clear Spring Missionary Baptist Church in Midville, Ga. Mrs. Brown will be placed at the high school Wednesday at 12 noon until time of service for viewing. April was born August 20, 1971to the late Dr. Bobby C. Outlaw, Sr. and Hattie Furgess Outlaw. April dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and joined Clear Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devoted member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. During her lifetime, she served faithfully in several capacities of the church including Hostess, Birth Mother, and Choir ministries. April was a graduate of Burke County High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from South Carolina State University and a Masters of Education in Early Childhood from Augusta State University. She was a dedicated educator in the Burke County School System for 15 years. She taught model lessons. She was also a Professor at Augusta Technical College for 2 years. Mrs. Brown has served on various committees and educational leadership groups, including Master Teacher, Mentor Teacher, Grade Chair, Student Support Team, InTech, and Outdoor Classroom Technology. Mrs. Brown had the pleasure of being honored as Waynesboro Primary Teacher of the Year 2000-2001. She was also a member of Georgia Association of Educators, Burke County Association of Educators, Board of Burke County Debutante/ Debonair Society, Between Friends Book Club, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is survived by a dedicated and loving husband, Keith C. Brown and two sons, Taison C. Brown and Bryce A. Brown; a devoted mother, Hattie Furgess Outlaw; two sisters, Barbara (Bobby) Bynes and Arleeta (Jackie) Young; one brother, Bobby (Helen) Outlaw, Jr.; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Corenza Brown and Tawain (Valangie) Brown; six nephews, four nieces, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends; and a special friend, Mrs. Julie Roberts Jones.
