EVANS, Ga. - Went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2008, Mrs. Catherine Vaughn Fincher, 92, widow of Marshall Heath Fincher and daughter of the late David B. Vaughn and Minnie Lee Boling Vaughn. Mrs. Fincher was a native of Greenville County, SC and has lived in the Martinez-Evans Area since 1968. She had worked at Westboro Weaving Co., was a Telephone Operator, worked in Belks and J.C. Penney, all in Greenville, SC. In Augusta, she worked at J.M. Fields and Roses. She was a devout Christian and attended Lighthouse Assembly of God. She was a loving, kind, wife, mother and grandmother and she never met a stranger. Family members include her daughter: Julie F. Voelker and husband John of Evans; brother: Ishmael Vaughn of Greenville, SC; sister: Alma White of Asheville, NC; granddaughters: Jessica Voelker and Amanda Voelker; special grandchildren: Amanda Light, Kelsey Light, Krystal Herline and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Warren Ham officiating. Pallbearers will be Alan Hay, Jimmy Honaker, Tommy Timmerman, Tarik El, Mark Crawford and Lawson Templeton. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice.
