Robert R. Turbyfill Jr. , of Augusta, has been named Alumnus of the Year for Limestone College, Gaffney, S.C.

College graduates

The following area students have graduated from their colleges:

- Columbia College degrees -- Dolly Walker Morris and Sandra K. Thomas , Augusta, master's of education in divergent learning; and Rochele Marie Johnson , Hephzibah, bachelor of science in accounting.

- St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind. -- Elizabeth Andrews , Augusta, bachelor of business administration degree in accounting.

Merit scholarship

Madeline T. Hane , of John S. Davidson Fine Arts High School, has received the National Merit Georgia Institute of Technology Scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

History day winners

Episcopal Day School students took the top three places in the CSRA regional history day.

Also, eight grader Grayson LaHatte placed second in the state and will compete in the National History Day June 15-19 at the University of Maryland, College Park, and eighth grader Mathieu Erramuzpe placed third in the state.

Also, Becca Wiggins has won the Classical Association of the Middle West and South outstanding achievement in classical studies award.

Museum donation

John Deere Commercial Products, Grovetown, has given $2,500 to the Augusta Museum of History's board of trustees for general operating funds for the museum.

Top headlines

School bus accident causes minor injuries

A Richmond County school bus with seven special education students on board was involved in an accident that resulted in minor injuries, district spokesman Louis Svehla said.
