Inmate's calls urge woman not to testify
A woman told police that a Richmond County jail inmate has repeatedly called her to request that she not testify against him.
The woman said Jordash Tanksley, 23, who was indicted in October on charges of burglary, armed robbery and aggravated assault in the July robbery of a local clothing store, used three-way calling from a blocked number to contact her, according to a Richmond County Sheriff's Office report.
She accused him of calling her several times since the beginning of March, the report stated.
Two men indicted in copper theft at mall
Two Augusta men accused of causing about $2.5 million worth of damage to Regency Mall while trying to steal copper wiring were indicted Tuesday.
Calvin Burnett and Bryant Hobbs both face 57 counts of second-degree criminal damage to property, according to court documents.
They are believed to have stolen copper wire from rooftop commercial air-conditioning units on top of Regency Mall in March, according to Richmond County sheriff's Investigator Kendall Brown. Mr. Burnett also faces charges of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, and one misdemeanor count of obstruction of an officer.
Officials want help finding missing teen
Authorities are asking for help in locating a 15-year-old girl who has been missing since early this month.
Brittany Nicole Draper was last seen on May 8 in the 1700 block of Wycliffe Road, according to a Richmond County Sheriff's Office news release. She is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds, the release states. Anyone with information can call the sheriff's office at (706) 821-1080.
Traffic briefs
- Pedestrian traffic on Wheeler Road at the Bobby Jones Expressway overpass is prohibited until further notice, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release.
Signs will be in place warning pedestrians about using the bridge, and violators might be fined, the release states. The restriction is in place because of an ongoing construction project in the area.
- There will be a lane closure on the eastbound and westbound sides of Bobby Jones Expressway from 9 p.m. today until 6 a.m. Friday as part of an ongoing construction project, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release.
Drivers are urged to use caution in the work area.

She has blondish blackish redish long but short, curly straight hair, blueish greenish, brownish eyes, And she had on clothes. Does that help clear it up?

I copied the link but it didn't work. So I just went to WJBF home page and looked for the story and clicked on it. She's really pretty according to their picture. It shows an attractive young face, smiling wide-spaced brown eyes, black hair, medium brown skin, high cheek bones, huge pretty smile, bright white nice teeth. Please help find Brittany. If you want to find a missing teen, wouldn't it be better to give a better description. White or black female? Identifying marks? Color of her hair? Color of eyes? I got one... How about a picture? And they say "Crooks are stupid"...

Missing children are missing children. I have to agree with UrNotReady with regards to the missing girl probably being black and the description being less than helpful. I'd be willing to say that if she were white we'd have a detailed decription down to what she was last seen wearing, where she likes to hang out and what she ate for breakfast. And why wait for almost a month to put out a bulletin on a missing child?? I hope she is found, safe and sound very soon.

fascinating to find the seekers-of-racism-in-everything passing judgment on the lack of a black person's picture in an article. isn't it usually the other way around (i.e. if a black person's picture is accompanying an article cries of "racism" immediately come up)?
I heard Woody Merry's version. It has a few details that the Chronicle didn't get. Woody says that he didn't make the first, second, or third contact, William did. Something about William stomach bumping him three times while Woody warned him that he was making him feel threatened several times. THEN Woody pushed him out of his personal space and then William slugged him and kicked him after he went down. I'm not saying that's what happened, but that is Woody's perspective. I haven't heard William give his. Let the law sort it out. I could've been standing right there, blinked and missed something seeing it and I certainly wouldn't have felt it.
