L. "Latt" Martin (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Sunday, May 25, 2008 at his residence, Mr. Alonza L. Martin, Sr. of Bahama Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from The Historic Springfield Baptist Church with Bishop Rosa L. Williams officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 12:00 noon until the hour of service. The funeral procession will leave the residence at 12:15 p.m. Mr. Martin was a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School Class of 1960; he also attended Morehouse College and Augusta College. He retired from United Distributors in 2005. He was a member of The Historic Springfield Baptist Church, where he served as Church School Superintendent and spearheaded and operated the first audio ministry. Survivors are his wife, Mildred Wright Martin; two sons, Alzona L. Martin, Jr. and Jean Paul Martin, Sr. (Kyna); one sister, Virginia M. Barnes (James); four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Betty Martin and Mary Harris; two brothers-in-law, Willie H.
