hello?????
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an Augusta man whose widow is charged with hiring a killer to shoot a previous husband.
Sheriff's Maj. Ken Autry confirmed Tuesday that his department is "looking into" the death of John E. Neumar, of Augusta, one of the five dead husbands of 76-year-old Betty Neumar.
Mr. Neumar, 79, died in October at the Downtown Division of the Augusta Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. Family members said his cause of death was listed as sepsis -- an illness often afflicting the elderly, caused by bacterial, fungal, viral or parasitic infections of the bloodstream or tissues. Secondary causes were ischemic bowel, defined as injury to the large intestine caused by inadequate blood supply, and ileus, a disruption of the digestive system.
Because he died in a hospital under a doctor's care, the coroner's office did not examine the body.
Ms. Neumar was arrested by authorities May 21 on charges of solicitation to commit murder. The arrest came 22 years after her former husband Thomas Harold Gentry was found shot to death inside the couple's home in Norwood, N.C., about 45 miles east of Charlotte.
After the arrest and revelations of three other dead spouses, Maj. Autry said, the department decided to check into Mr. Neumar's death.
"After the accusation about the other husband, you would see how we would be at least suspicious," Maj. Autry said. "So I think we would have to take a second look at it."
Sheriff's Lt. Scott Peebles said investigators have begun interviewing family members and friends of Mr. Neumar.
"There's all kinds of things we have to do, and it's going to be lengthy, I'm sure," Lt. Peebles said.
Mr. Neumar's son and daughter-in-law recently said they had questions about his death. They told The Augusta Chronicle last week that his widow had the body cremated before his children and grandchildren knew he had died.

hello?????
How bout some detail on the May 21 arrest? Why 22yrs later?
The May 21 arrest was made by NC authorities with assistance from Richmond County. It took NC 22 years to figure out that she solicited the murder of her former husband. Richomond County didn't have probable cause to investigate the black widow until now. They are now doing their part by investigating the death of the husband that died in Augusta.
5 dead husbands?! Someone should call the game warden because she is way over the limit.
geez at herr age and with her record youd think theyd just let her go, i mean its not like shes ever getting married again at 76 yrs old.
hello first time in the blogger. guess what you all stink. too bad you don't know this lady what they have failed to tell you all is the other 4 died of natural causes. for the death of mr. neumar you should be looking at your local va they are the ones that killed that poor man, and she is not fighting extradition, she just wishes it was over, as i'm sure the family does too by the way do any of you blood suckers have any family? i'll bet you woun't kiss your mother with those mouths!!!!!
By The way you want to know some thing funny as crap? They asked her the same questions that were asked 22 yrs ago and the same answers were given!! After 22 yrs I don't care who you are you are NOT going to remember the answers to the questions.ESPECIALLY at 76 yoa.
Humm. how do you know she answered the exact same way?
I saw on the news where when her last husband died she didn't even call his son til after he was cremated. Yep sounds like a upstanding citizen to me. Even if any of us know or don't know this woman it's a news story and this is a comment section. So we can offer up our bloodsucking opinion and if you don't like it don't read it.
Maybe IZAGAIN wants to be #6. Somebody is VERY cranky!
