EVANS, Ga. - Mr. John Ogden Tomlinson, 78, beloved father, grandfather and brother, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 22, 2008 at University Hospital. Mr. Tomlinson was a native of Georgia and lived in the Augusta area for the past 30 years. As a young man, he joined the U.S. Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was retired but was former owner of Tomlinson's Home Maintenance. He was a faithful member of Abilene Baptist Church where he was a member and active participant in the men's and senior's ministries always know for his Christian witness to others and his genuine love of people. Deeply loved by all his family and friends, he will be greatly missed but is in Heaven holding hands with Jesus. Family members include his son: Mark D. Tomlinson, Daytona Beach, FL; daughter and son-in-law: Kristie and Bill Quattlebaum of Evans; son and daughter-in-law: Drs. David J. and Ruth Anne Tomlinson of Jackson Hole, WY; sister and brother-in-law: Nancy and David Williams of Ringgold, GA; brother and sister-in-law: Mike and Cathy Sausaman of Ringgold, GA; grandchildren: Iris Tomlinson, Courtney Tomlinson, Mary Tomlinson, Christina A., Phipps, LeAnna Tomlinson, Sarah Quattlebaum, Jason Quattlebaum, Katelyn Tomlinson and niece: Amy Caldwell; nephews: Dan Sausaman and Jon Williams. Mr. Tomlinson was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Connie S. Tomlinson in May of 2006; his parents: Joseph Jason Tomlinson and Willow Mae Purvis; and oldest son: John O. Tomlinson, Jr. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Abilene Baptist Church with Revs. William Harrell and Barry Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. until time of service Tuesday at Abilene Baptist Church.
