Samuel James Powell (CARMEL, S.C.)

CARMEL, S.C. - Mr. Samuel James Powell, husband of Mrs. Mary Jones Powell, died at Self Regional Medical Center May 12, 2008. He was born in North Augusta, S.C. on June 16, 1934, a son of the late George and Beulah Braddy Powell. Survivors are his wife of the home; his daughters, Cassandra (Mike) Powell of Washington, D.C., Linda Powell of Mt. Ranier, Md., Mamie (Henry) Banks of Mt. Carmel, S.C., and Martha Autry of Forestville, Md.; three sons, Ricky (Veronica) Powell and Timothy Powell of Washington, D.C., and Earl (Jeannie) Powell of Clinton, Md.; one grandson reared in the home, Anthony Powell of Abbeville, S.C.; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Anne (Thomas) Turner of North Augusta, S.C.; one stepsister, Rosa Hollins. The services will be at noon Saturday at Rockford A.M.E. Church with the Pastor Albert L. Thompson and assisting are Revs. Robert Belcher, Nathaniel Irvin, James Louden, III, and Johnnie Walker.
