LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Mr. Harold B. Henderson, 92, beloved husband of 65 years of the late Louis Sylvester Henderson entered into rest on Wednesday May 14, 2008 at his residence in North Little Rock, Arkansas. A Funeral Mass will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday May 16, 2008 at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with the Rev. Justin Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Henderson, a native of Asheville, North Carolina was born on June 4, 1915. His family moved to Augusta in June, 1929, and he resided in Augusta for 75 years. Harold loved Augusta and always considered it to be his home. Mr. Henderson was a Certified Public Accountant of the State of Georgia and was founder and senior partner of Henderson, Shaw, and Company, Certified Public Accountants, with offices in Augusta and Macon. After the merger of his firm with Cherry, Bekaert, and Holland, he remained a partner. Mr. Henderson was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Augusta-Richmond County Data Processing Commission where he served as chairman. Mr. Henderson was past president of the Augusta CPA Chapter, as well as past president of the Augusta Estate Planning Council and past president of the Augusta Lions Club where he was twice elected Lion-of-the Year. He was a former member of the Augusta Country Club and a charter member of the Pinnacle Club. Mr. Henderson was a member and Secretary of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, and served on United Way Committees for thirty years. He served as past Chairman of the Budget Committee, Treasurer, and Vice President of United Way. Mr. Henderson was a founder of the modern Richmond County Republican Party where he served as Chairman, and Chairman of the Richmond County Ronald Reagan Campaign for President in 1976, and chaired the Richmond County campaign for Jack Kemp in 1988. Survivors include his two sons, Harold Victor (Vic) Henderson and wife Donna of Augusta and Colonel (USA, Retired) James A. (Tony) Henderson of North Little Rock, Arkansas; his two daughters, Constance H. (Connie) Mathis of Valdosta, Georgia and Ann H. Lampp and husband Walter of Augusta; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dr. Paul E. Cundey, III, Edwin S. Presnell, Phil Kent, Howard Kies, Steven Farmer, Emory Sayer, William M. Rigdon, Gerald McNeal, Langdon Atkins, Douglas Cates, IV, and Dr. Gregory Gay.
