MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Garrett Phillips went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, John J. Phillips, Jr. and her parents Horace Garrett and Elizabeth Tankersley Garrett. She was born on May 12, 1939. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest accomplishments in life were her two children and three grandchildren. She loved them with all of her heart. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter and son-in law Julie and Brad Patterson, Evans, GA; son and daughter in-law, Scott and Dorinda Phillips, Martinez, GA. and three grandchildren Dillan B. Patterson, Taylor E. Patterson and Megan E. Phillips, Denver, CO. Additional survivors include her brothers Tom Garrett, Bryson City, NC, Dan Garrett, Avondale Estates, GA.(Patricia), and sisters Janice "Dodda" Waldman , Essexville, MI (David) and Jayne Black, Martinez, GA (Danny). She was lovingly known to them as Sissy. Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Saturday, May 17, 2008 at New Hope Worship Center with the Rev. Rich Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dillan Patterson, Garrett Black, Christopher Black, Phillip Tully, Jerry Speering and Mac Johnson Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Black, Tom Garrett and Dan Garrett. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday evening at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez.
