Letter to the Editor
Being as we have to listen to our presidential candidates so much, I decided to say something about our government.
The United States is a nation to be proud of, but our government lacks a lot. For example: If a person puts up a "no trespassing" sign in the front yard, it does not mean the back yard is fair game. It means literally to keep off of all this property.
Now, I do not think the person who put up the sign has the right to ambush or outright shoot someone. I do, however, believe that the owner has the right to order a trespasser off his property. If the trespasser refuses, I think that the property owner has a right to brandish a gun and again order the person off the property. I also believe that what happens at that point rests solely on the trespassers.
Now a liberal doctrine theorizes that no one has the right to use deadly force in the protection of their property rights or private possessions. That is why we as a nation have such a crime rate as we do. One day I hope our Supreme Court will finally wake up and see what is happening to our country.
Until that day comes we need to teach our children to respect the rights of others -- that it is against the law of decency to kill, steal, cheat or trespass, and that they could get hurt or killed themselves if they violate these laws. They must learn never to practice prejudice. They need to be taught that crime, greed, laziness and ignorance of the law do not have to be accepted.
We as a nation, if we work together, can make this nation one to continue to be proud of, and truly a nation of respect, love and just good decent people.
