Drowning victim's body is recovered

Authorities say they found the body of a North Augusta man who drowned in Lake Murray in Lexington County, S.C., on Saturday.

Nick Moore, 29, was found dead about 1:15 p.m., said South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Lt. Robert McCullough.

Officers with the department were dispatched at about 4 a.m. to Pine Point Drive, where an overturned canoe had been reported, Lt. McCullough said.

Authorities later found Mr. Moore and a friend. The other man had retreated safely from the canoe, Lt. McCullough said.

The department is still investigating the drowning.

Mr. Moore was not wearing a life jacket, Lt. McCullough said.
