Only a sophomore, Aaron Steedley has placed his name forever in Fox Creek High School's baseball record book.

Last month, against Hunter-Kinard-Tyler High School of Neeses, S.C., Aaron threw the school's first perfect game in a 21-0 rout. Aaron struck out 11 of the 12 batters he faced in the game shortened to four innings by the nine-run rule.

"I was excited about the no-hitter. We had some big games coming up, and I was focusing on that," he said.

The Predators recently won their second straight Region 4-A baseball title, and coach David Bell said it's a group of solid sophomores, including Aaron, who make the team strong.

Aaron, he said, "is another one of the great kids on the team. He's one of the team leaders. He hustles, is smart and easy to coach."

Aaron has been pitching since he was about 12 years old. He also plays first base, but he prefers pitching.

"I like that you are in control of the game," he said.

Bell said Aaron has had a great season and his 5-4 record is deceptive.

"He's pitched against Greenbrier and North Augusta, all of the AAAA schools," Bell said.

Over the summer, Aaron plans to intensify his workouts and make his pitches even stronger.

"I'm doing pretty good, but not as good as I want to be," he said.

He plans to either attend some baseball camps or participate in a summer recreation league.

The lanky 6-3 athlete also plays basketball for the Predators.

"He has a really good shooting percentage. He takes some good shots," said Bell, who assists on the basketball team.
